Colour world, Round 3

Yet another fantastic year of Colour World has passed, over the May 20th -21st weekend, hosted in both MC Motors and the Film Shed. We absolutely adore hosting this event as it is constantly filled with such incredible and talented artists, and never fails to entertain.

With brands such as Olaplex, Revlon, Schwarzkopf, and more, members of the public as well as other hairstylists were invited to watch talks, and presentations on products, and new and unique ways to dye hair.

VIP ticket holders were given goodie bags of all kinds of hair treats, ranging from shampoos, to masks, and even funky colours, that were sure to have your hair looking fabulous for months to come! Other ticket holders were able to collect samples from stalls around the venue, be it dry shampoo, hair dye, candy and more.

In our panelled room, Revlon were giving away hair dye goodies in which you were able to choose a fashion colour, or any dye that best suited your needs, and have it personalised by an artist, which made for a lovely little addition to everyones hair product collection.

The vintage cocktail bar was set up, serving freshly made juices, pressed that morning at the location, all from healthy fruits and veg, which was a huge hit!

Outside in the yard were food trucks setup for lunch and dinner, serving delicious meals such as gyoza, paninis, and souvlaki, to fill everyones foodie desires.

As usual, it was a successful and exciting event in which everyone enjoyed their time, and we were thrilled to be apart of it.

Can’t wait for next year!

NLAH Christmas Charity Event

This Saturday from 4pm-11pm, come down to Ruby’s for a wonderful evening filled with mulled wine, sweet treats and festive music, all in support of the NLAH. Stop by and help out with a wonderful cause this holiday season. We can’t wait to see you all there!

Brooklyn Brewery Beer Mansion 2017

For the second year running, Brooklyn Brewery’s Beer Mansion was a huge success! It was wonderful getting to see MC Motors transformed from our everyday industrial space, to a jungle like maze, and our Blue factory resembling a booze filled beach holiday! Who wouldn’t love that!? Some of our favourite parts of the evening were strange events that occurred throughout; eating ox hearts over a ‘dead’ body, searching blindfolded through a pitch black room, eating insects(!!!!!!!), and of course, sampling all the incredible flavours of beer within the mansion. From live bands to a great DJ set, people were dancing the night away, immersed in the wonderful world that was the Beer Mansion.

Thanks again to everyone who came, it was a great experience having everyone back again, and we hope y
ou all had an exceptional time!

NLAH Christmas Event

Hey everyone! Sorry we’ve been away so long, but we hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday and have settled back nicely into everyday life again! We know we have, and it’s great to be back!

Following up on our last post, before Christmas, we hosted a charity event in collaboration with the North London Action for the Homeless. We had such a great day and we would love to thank everyone who came out to support a wonderful cause! Our lovely pop up cafe did absolutely amazing, with more and more people coming in to enjoy fresh teas, coffees, cakes and savoury treats.  Oh.. and lets not forget the most important thing, mulled wine! The atmosphere was gorgeous and warming, especially as the day ran on and the candle light filled the room, giving off a very homey and welcoming feel. There was also a live performance from the talented Dee Plume to get everyone moving as they enjoyed their treats! Not only was the cafe a great success, we can’t forget to mention how well the pop up vintage sale went! With customers coming in buying beautiful items either for themselves as a cheeky holiday treat, or buying gifts for friends and loved ones as Christmas soon approached. Everyone walked away happy! After everyone had had their fill, and purchased some beautiful garments and treasures, we also had a Polaroid shoot going on around the corner. Customers were able to choose between various fashion forward and festive set designs to have their portrait taken in front of. It was a really touching experience to be able to capture a moment of a family before the holidays, or some best friends wanting to remember a fun event.

We were so thrilled to be part of such a remarkable event and meet so many charming new faces. Thank you so much to everyone who came out, we all really appreciated it, and you helped out with such a great cause! We hope to see you all again soon! x

Chariots of Fire

Ok ok, so by now if you want a place to watch the Games, you have options. If you weren’t lucky enough to get the tickets you wanted (neither were we), you could always trot along to a park and watch it with thousands of others or, failing that, just watch it on your own telly. It’s true. But what if there was something a bit different..

From the people at Dalston’s premium underground drinking den Ruby’s comes Chariots of Fire – the Olympic screening event you might just have been waiting for… Over the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August, Ruby’s decamp to the Castle Gibson-owned MC Motors next door – a charming backstreet warehouse space decked out with oversized chesterfield sofas, theatre lights and retro stylings to boot.

Causing a stir in certain corners for their selection of local and world beers plus game-changing concoctions like the ‘Blackberry Mojito’ and the ‘Chili Apple Martini’, Ruby’s move to their bigger neighbours’ for a two-day residency, featuring all the action from the weekend’s games – including the 100m final – live on the big screen, hand-picked selection by DJ Miles Hartley and food by local guerilla gastronomes Hidden Dining. There’ll also be some topical additions to the ever-evolving menu including the ‘Going for Gold (Tequila) and Watermelon’.

At the forefront of East London’s burgeoning dining scene and under various guises Hidden Dining founder Claire Roberson has been providing relaxed informal dining in thought-provoking East London spaces and locations for the past five years. For Chariots of Fire, they’ll be setting up a 40-seater restaurant for the weekend, offering guests either home-made bar snacks or some sit-down traditional British Cuisine.

Plus, the rustic MC Motors has played host to numerous Olympic photo shoots over the past few months, a selection will be on show over the weekend including current stars Jessica Ennis and Phillips Idowu as well as former greats Linford Christie and Kriss Akabusi.
